Puranmashi or Purnima 2026 Date and Time
Complete list of Puranmashi (Purnima / Full Moon) dates for 2026 in Nanakshahi and Hindu calendar with tithi and time.
Puranmashi Dates List
The full Moon is seen in the sky on Purnima. It is known as Puranmashi or Punia. On this night, the Moon is as round as you see, and it is brighter in the sky than it is on other days. In the Hindu lunisolar calendar, Purnima ends the Shukla Paksha.
Purnima night is a special night in the lunar month when the Moon looks bright, full and round as seen from the Earth. On that night, the Sun, Earth, and Moon are more or less in a line, with the Earth between the Sun and the Moon. The sunlight falls on the side of the Moon that faces the Earth, and the dark night becomes a gentle, shining silvery world.
Since Purnima is based on the Moon’s natural orbit around Earth, it happens every month. It takes the Moon about 29.5 days to go through all of its phases. The waxing half of the lunar month is called Shukla Paksha. It lasts for about 15 days and ends with Purnima. At any time, about half of the Moon is lit up by sunlight. The moon is full when the side facing the Earth is fully lit up. This makes it look like a bright full circle. There are many festivals & religious events associated with Purnima. Some of the major celebrations are Holika Dahan, Raksha Bandhan, Garbade, Guru Nanak Dev Ji Jayanti, Buddha Purnima, Guru Purnima, Sharad Purnima, and Kartika Purnima. These occasions hold significance in different Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, and Jain traditions.
